Impact
We believe that it is our responsibility to take action and help make the world a better place.
We want to make sure that our actions are environmentally friendly, and also have the potential to inspire others to do the same. We are working to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future. We are committed to working with others to create a brighter future for all, and we believe that this will only be possible if we take responsibility for our actions. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our performance and make a difference, and we hope that you will join us in this effort.
"Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you."
Actions we're taking
Recycled and compostable packaging
Every packaging we use is either one of the three: recycled material, compostable, or reusable- or a combination of two. We partnered up with Noissue. to ensure that our packaging is sustainable.
Compostable packaging is made from a number of renewable plant-based materials and/or bio-polymers, that will compost withing 90-180 days.
Recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators - it conserves natural resources and prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials. Basically instead of making something new - we’re taking something already in circulation to give it a second life!
2 TREES PLANTED WITH EVERY PURCHASE
The trees we plant with Eden Reforestation Projects support wild life diversity, improve coastlines, provided meaningful wages to indigenous population and grow Mangrove trees which are an incredible carbon sink.
With the rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions over the last century, the need for enduring carbon sinks has grown. The latest models suggest that to remain within“acceptable” global temperature increase, it is no longer enough to simply reduce emissions, and protect existing forests, but rather that we need to rapidly increase the ability to sequester carbon. Globally, mangrove systems are estimated to hold an astounding 20 petagrams of carbon. For a biome representing less than 5% of the world’s terrestrial area, this makes mangroves one of the most important carbon stocks, even more than many rainforests like the Amazon. Equally, as a relatively fast-growing group of species, mangroves sequester carbon at a very fast rate.
Organic and ethically sourced cotton
Our garments are made from eco-friendly fabric. Quality cotton grown without the use of herbicides or pesticides is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified. Premium sweaters are 80% cotton 20% recycled polyester anti-pill fleece.
The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment and better for cotton communities.
It is the largest cotton sustainability program in the world and uses members fees to tackle labour challenges that often exist in the farming sector, aiding in Better Cotton’s core vision of a world where all cotton farming is sustainable.
To achieve this mission Better Cotton trains farmers to use water efficiently, care for soil health and natural habitats, reduce use of the most harmful chemicals and respect workers’ rights and wellbeing.
"A circular economy aims to redefine growth, focusing on positive society-wide benefits. It entails gradually decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources, and designing waste out of the system. It represents a systemic shift that builds long-term resilience, generates business and economic opportunities, and provides environmental and societal benefits."
